In the haunting ruins of Heritage USA
In a couple of videos by Thought Traveler posted to YouTube in 2009 is a vision of the ruins of Heritage USA. Heritage USA was a Praise the Lord amusement park with the
idea that it would ideologically sound for Christians, especially those that followed PTL, theme park. With the failure of PTL later on, the divorce of Tammy Faye from Jim Baker, adultery, and the collapse of the church Heritage USA basically closed its doors.
When IO9 ran an article about the ruins that humans leave behind from Odd Ball Animation, it was well worth looking to see if someone had already made a movie. While a little dated, it would be cool for Thought Traveler to redo their videos, in the meantime the original series from 2009 are worth looking. If you are familiar with Life After People, or other sites that are documenting the fall of humanity from Detroit, Chernobyl, or other abandoned places, the movies from Thought Traveler are hauntingly awesome. If IO9 asks, odds are highly likely that people have done it already.
This is an awesome series of videos with a very good haunting sound track. Honestly these should be more widely known if you are into abandoned places. We leave behind some awesome ruins, and this video series is a tribute to those ruins, the ideas they represented, and what happens when nature reclaims her own spaces.
